In December of 2020, Paradise Systems launched out first ebook, First Wave: Comics from the Early Months of China's Outbreak. Edited by Xinmei Liu, this anthology collects over 100 pages of comics that were published in China from January to March, 2020. Ranging from autobiography to science fiction, the work by these cartoonists captures the anxiety and resilience of those living through the first wave of the global pandemic.
To celebrate the launch of First Wave, we also held a digital launch party. For this event, Paradise Systems editor Jason Li created a digital event space based on Toyoya's illustrations. The space ran through web browsers and allowed you to walk around and text chat with other folks at the event.
